Do you have a blog? If don’t, then I suggest you to create one! You could use free blogging sites, such as WordPress or Blogspot. Sign up freely and start posting any idea that comes up on your mind.
Adsense is an advertisement application run by Google. These advertisements are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis. If you have blog, you can participate and earn money from it. Just install the script in your blog and customize its position and theme to attract visitors of your blog click the ads if they interest on it.
WordPress is a popular blogging engine that used by many people. But if you’re using wordpress.com (the free service) it has some limitation, such as: you can’t put any script on it. Blogspot offer an advantage to let users put adsense script. However, I prefer WordPress as my blog engine. Therefore I buy a domain on a hosting service, and install WordPress there. The easiest way to install it is by using Fantastico. Or, you can do it manually by download wordpress from http://wordpress.org/download/ and install in your new domain.
After successful installation, you can login to the admin page (dashboard) and go to the Widget menu (Appearance > Widget). Choose a Text widget and Add it to the sidebar. Then, insert adsense script into the widget. To get the script, follow these steps:
1. Go to Google Adsense site (http://google.com/adsense)
2. Login using your Google account (signup at www.gmail.com if you don’t have one)
3. Go to AdSense Setup tab, and choose Get Ads
4. Choose AdSense For Content
5. Choose Ad Unit
6. Pick the proper Format. If you decide to install in the widget, then the Vertical format is the best choice. Or, if you decide to put in the header or footer, choose Horizontal format.
7. Then experiment with the Colors palette to make it attractive. You can try to make your ads “blended” and looks like a part of your blog, by making the Border and Background color same as the background color of your blog; for example: if your blog have a white background, then you could set the Border and Background color of the adsense unit to FFFFFF (hex color code for White).
8. Click [Continue] and make a channel name for your new ads unit. The channel is useful to analyze your earning from the Adsense. For example: name your new channel “Sidebar1″ for your sidebar (vertical) ads unit.
9. Click [Continue] and give a name to your new ads unit, or leave its default name. Then click [Submit and Get Code] and you’re finish. Copy the script, then paste it to your Text Widget in your wordpress blog.
